HOOPWHIRL History

Throughout my life, I have tried so many keep fit classes but failed to regularly attend any one class as I became extremely bored with the same routine and music - infact, each time I attended any of these classes it became predictable as to what the instructor was going to teach! Also as we get older, we have to consider our joints. Aerobics, step aerobics and running, to mention just a few, do not help us in this respect. I damaged my knee joints years ago doing step aerobics and the doctor told me to give up any high impact exercise. Hoop Dance is low impact, therefore very kind to the joints. I have no joint problems at all since doing Hoop Dance.

Just for fun, seven years ago, I purchased a small plastic child's hoop and it took me weeks and weeks of hooping to get it right! Eventually, after 1 hour's hooping each night, I managed to keep the hoop going around. However, when using these small hoops, there are only so many moves one can make and as I adore dancing, wanted to be able to incorporate dance moves with my hooping. That is when I discovered the Heavy Hoop and found it so much easier to spin around my body than the lightweight plastic hoop. Heavy Hoops are so easy to rotate and in no time you can create new moves. I carried on practising night after night and very soon, after using the Heavy Hoop, noticed a complete change in my body shape. Although I have never been "big" I have always had the body shape of an athlete - that is straight up and down and had no womanly curves. I am now a size 8 (thanks to hooping) and for the first time in my life have a super nipped-in waist and small hips.

Hooping gives you the "Three E's" - Exercise, Endorphins and Euphoria! This wonderful discovery encouraged me to share what I had experienced with as many people as possible, whether it be for people who just want to keep fit, have fun, have a healthy heart or need to trim down, shape-up and be super healthy. The list is endless. A great stress-buster too. Hard day in the office? Difficult day with the kids? Come hooping and rid yourself of that pent-up tension.

I started teaching HOOP DANCE in July 2007 and have not looked back since - my only big regret is that I did not discover HOOPING years ago!! That's when HOOP DANCE became a huge part of my life and I have never felt happier!
